UNIT 9-1 How to Say “You” in Japanese

Japanese equivalent for “you” is 「あnata」 . However, it cannot be used to address ELDERS, SUPERIORS or OUTSIDERS . So usually the counterpart's name or title is used as a SUBJECT when it is necessary to the conversation. 「senseい」 is a very useful title that can be used to address people who are in any respectable jobs such as teachers, lawyers, doctors and congressmen.
