In Japanese, to use NOUNS as information and to assemble them into a sentence, the help of PARTICLES such as 「は[wa]」,「で[de]」 and 「と[to]」 must be used in most cases.

Among the various PARTICLES which have the function of converting NOUNS into information, the PARTICLE 「は[wa]」 is very special. Its functions are so unique that it is impossible to explain them by a simple concept such as a SUBJECT/OBJECT indicator or a topic marker as is often used in other textbooks.
